What is Rent-A-Text?
Textbook rental is one of the options available to you at Stepan Bookstore. When you rent a textbook, you save 50% or more off the price of a new book. Then you use the book as normal throughout the semester and return it to us by the last day of finals. It's that simple. Over half of the books being used on campus this semester are eligible to be rented, so you can save a lot of cash for other things you need. Visit rent-a-text.com to learn more.
How do I rent?
To create a rental account, you need to meet a few basic criteria. You must:
  • Be 18 years old or older.
  • Have a valid credit card in your name (for collateral).
  • Have an active e-mail address.
  • Have a current photo ID.

You can save time in line by setting up your rental account before you shop. Visit http://rental.bkstr.com to get started.

When can I sell books to the Bookstore?
We buy books back year-round. You can stop by any time and see what your books are worth, and we'll give you cash on the spot. However some books will be worth more at the end of the semester when we're buying up books for the next semester.
Why should I sell my books at the Bookstore?
Because we know what books are being used on campus next semester, we can offer top dollar for books that we'll be using again. For everything else, we can still give you the fair market value. And we're convenient - you get cash, on the spot.
**Remember: If you rented your textbooks, DON'T sell them back. Tell the cashier that you are returning your rentals. Don't know what you rented? Log into rental.bkstr.com .
In conjunction with the Student Accounts office, Stepan Bookstore offers a $500 line of credit to every enrolled student, every semester. Simply show your student ID. Any amount charged will appear on your monthly statement from the Bursar. If you max out your $500, you can also contact the Student Accounts office to inquire about increasing your credit limit. And next semester, you start off with a new $500 limit all over again.
