Dominican University has as its first purpose teaching and learning in the Catholic humanist tradition. This is done in an atmosphere of free inquiry with respect for divergent opinions. It intends to develop in students intellectual vitality, moral alertness, aesthetic sensibilities and a sense of social justice and responsibility. It desires to equip students with the knowledge, arts and skills for the contemporary world and instill in students a life-long desire for learning.
