The Provost is the chief academic officer of the University, responsible for the general administration of the University academic programs. Included in these responsibilities are faculty recruitment and evaluation, curriculum development and implementation, student academic affairs, academic research and planning, and academic budget development and administration. The Provost reports to the President.

Dr. Jeffrey R. Breese is the Provost.
Dominican University has as its first purpose teaching and learning in the Catholic humanist tradition. This is done in an atmosphere of free inquiry with respect for divergent opinions. It intends to develop in students intellectual vitality, moral alertness, aesthetic sensibilities and a sense of social justice and responsibility. It desires to equip students with the knowledge, arts and skills for the contemporary world and instill in students a life long desire for learning.
